Prof. Tadashi Tokeida , his YouTube videos and his QuantaMagazine Interview

I follow Quanta Magazine on Twitter and this interview of Prof Tadashi Tokeida caught my attention and this part " also to show people that scientific discoveries are not the exclusive preserve of professional scientists." resonated with me a lot.  It forced me to read the interview fully.

Given below is a sample from the interview
On Surprises of the scientific kind. “The part of the universe that we can experience with our own biological senses is limited,” he said. “Nonetheless, in that range we can experience things ourselves. We can be surprised, not because we have been told to be surprised but because we actually see [something] and are surprised.”
I call it the wow factor. the kind of feel you get when you come across a moebius strip for the first time in your life or the wide open eyes of a kid who is exposed to a surface with one side for the first time in his/her life.
On his kind of toys - "If you can buy something from a toy store, then it’s not a toy for me, because that means that somebody has already designed a certain use for it, and you’re supposed to use it that way. If you buy some sort of very sophisticated electronic toy, the child is kind of a slave to this product. "

Checked with a friend who told me that Prof Tadashi Tokeida's lectures are loads of fun.

Further exploration revealed that there are a good number of videos on YouTube.

The Complete interview can be read here .

Do check out the interview and this video is a sample.

Note: Aother friend suggested Shri Manish Jain, who also happens to be a student of Shri Arvind Gupta, and told me to explore Creative Learning Initiative  at IIT Gandhi Nagar.
The link to the FB page is also provided below for the benefit of people who want to explore further.
